The scatty sewer

A scatty sewers journey through the world of sewing

Not the weekend I planned!

on April 27, 2015

I planned a weekend of sewing lovely summer clothes, sorting my stash and watching Netflix TV series one after another, well I did that obviously 😆

But instead I was so tired on Saturday morning that I just vegged on the settee watching rubbish, eating rubbish! Ive been finding my day job is getting tougher and tougher with being in so much demand and running around after children, it maybe time to go to a 4 day week! Just think 3 days of sewing a week!!! Ooooo how magic would that be 😮

So on Saturday afternoon I realised it was my mothers birthday the next day! And I hadn’t made her a present, or bought her anything, so I picked up a piece of paper piece patchwork I’d been working on for 2 weeks and turned it into a bag, not a very good one though!

She’s seemed to like it, although I messed up the bottom and made the straps to thick! How easy is it to criticise ourselves but when others post on Facebook something rubbish, you’ll totally be like “wow that’s lovely” one day I’m going totally like “OMG that’s totally rubbish love” , of course I won’t! That would be rude, but I can easily do it to my own work… “God love that’s a rubbish bag, I hope you gave your poor mum something other than that!” …Yeah of course I did.

So after taking my mum out on Sunday for lunch I came back to watch my beloved Arsenal and sorted out the fabric/dress patterns I’m doing this week.  This is what I’m thinking, the sew la do da blitz dress in this lovely cotton, I already have one and it is totally lush and I can’t recommend enough for this summer, it’s so comfy and cool.

And the McCall M6503 in a lovely Liberty print cotton lawn

Hopefully I’ll have them completed before the weekend as its a bank holiday weekend and Pimms o clock will be in effect, so a new summer dress will be needed, cheers 🍸

Happy scatty sewing xx
